About the DTC

Our Doctoral Training Centre, which spans a range of disciplines and faculties across the University, aims to train tomorrow's leading researchers in areas as diverse as energy engineering and climate economics, transport studies and future fuels. With climate change presenting the greatest global challenges of our time, developing the right mix and level of skills, experience and knowledge in our scientists and engineers is vital.

The DTC was funded initially for five years and in that time we will train at least 50 researchers directly, and aim to leverage further studentships from industry and overseas. The first cohort began work in 2009, and the DTC will train at least 50 researchers

A new £12.5 million Energy Research building was opened on Wednesday 21st March 2012 by Ambassador Richard Jones from the International Energy Agency (IEA), providing a state-of-the-art home for all DTC students as well as those students working on energy related research outside the DTC.
